On September 17, 2020 Sony DADC was awarded with the “umwelt blatt salzburg” in the category “energy efficient production”. With this environmental award, the umwelt service salzburg – the service and advice center for corporate environmental protection in the federal state – has honored environmental awareness and exceptional environmental commitment on the part of Salzburg businesses for many years.
30 years of environmental commitment show clear success
As a company, our diversity was particularly convincing: a photovoltaic system with around 840kWp and other comprehensive measures relating to energy and mobility were consistently implemented following consultation with the umwelt service salzburg.
Since 2019, this has made it possible to save 16,000 cubic meters of natural gas annually by recovering heat from the refrigeration systems, among other things.
In addition, we have been relying 100% on renewable energies since 2007, have been active as a partner company of Salzburg 2050 since 2018, and promote sustainable and climate-friendly mobility in the form of electric cars and free charging stations.
All in all, we have been committed to climate and environmental protection for three decades – and have already achieved a great deal in this respect: in the meantime, 59% of the energy required for the production of a disc has been saved, 96% less solvent is used and waste has been reduced by 54%.

The support and service, but above all the subsidized advice provided by the umwelt service salzburg and its consultants, were a decisive factor in enabling us to continuously implement our climate protection measures.

Individual consultation as well as the service-oriented support and accompaniment of the Salzburg companies, but also the maximum utilization of all possible subsidies – this has proven to be a recipe for success for corporate environmental and climate protection for years.

Renewable energies as success factor
In his laudatory speech at the award ceremony of umwelt blatt Salzburg, Leonhard Schitter, spokesman of the board of directors of Salzburg AG, emphasized the commitment of Sony DADC to renewable energy.
Sony DADC also offers its employees the option of having a wallbox installed at home. A service that is worth seeing and for which Salzburg AG as an e-mobility service provider has taken over the complete handling of the fleet management. I am all the more pleased to be able to hand over the umwelt blatt salzburg to Sony DADC today.

“Road to Zero”: Climate protection is a top priority
The environmental program “Road to Zero” was launched in 2010 with the aim of becoming an even more climate-neutral company. Further environmental measures to follow
Environmentally friendly measures will continue to be implemented throughout the company in the future. For example, the photovoltaic system will be further expanded and the gas heating system will be replaced by a more climate-friendly variant. In addition, the focus will increasingly be set on environmentally friendly product development and employee mobility.
In any case, the award of the umwelt blatt salzburg already showed that Sony DADC is on the right track.
