Digital Rights Management (DRM)

Sony DADC's digital content services provide support for both industry standard and proprietary Digital Rights Management solutions (DRM), to help protect customers' digital content from illegitimate usage and piracy. DRM protected content is encrypted with a key and only the user who has the relevant license for the content can use it. With DRM technologies the playback rights associated with the content can be controlled and specified by the customer. For example the number of allowed playbacks, the number and type of devices that can play the content and the expiry date. DRM solutions can also be applied for streaming content.
