Sony DADC opens new packaging, refurbishment & service centre in Czech Republic

New facility supports pan-European entertainment industry with special packaging services.

Sony DADC has today announced the opening of a new packaging, refurbishment & service centre in Pilsen, Czech Republic. The central-European facility further extends Sony DADC’s European supply chain infrastructure, serving entertainment and information industry customers throughout Europe.

The opening of Sony DADC Czech Republic, s.r.o. continues Sony DADC’s long term strategic investment programme in infrastructure resources. Through this strategy, Sony DADC has created the world’s largest entertainment supply chain network consisting of service offices, optical media production, distribution and digital facilities in 19 countries worldwide. Alongside Pilsen, the company’s European distribution facilities are located in Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid, Gothenburg and Enfield, UK. Manufacturing sites are located in Salzburg and Southwater, UK.

Located in the heart of central Europe, with only 420 km distance to Frankfurt and 950 km distance to Paris, the Pilsen facility will be able to provide market-leading turnaround times to all the major European territories. The centre extends over 17,000 square metres and offers a range of specialised manual assembly services, with a view to soon expanding its portfolio to returns management and POS display solutions. Sony DADC has succeeded in transferring many skills and much of the experience gained from its other European service centres to its Czech site, which is now preparing for peak season.

The company believes that its investment at Pilsen will have a significant beneficial impact in the region, providing impetus to economic growth, creating many new jobs and generating a number of indirect benefits to the local economy.

"This is a proud day for the entire team here at Pilsen. Customers across Europe will benefit from the services and support that we can offer from today" commented Werner Gangl, General Manager, Sony DADC Czech Republic. "These kinds of labour intensive services and specialised packaging expertise mean that our customers will receive the best support without any compromise in turnaround times."
